Orchard was conceived by owner Greg Apt who grew up on an orchard in the Wenatchee Valley. Greg built Orchard as a place to highlight local foods and the skill of his chefs as they take the best local ingredients and create edible artwork. The open kitchen concept gives diners a unique perspective and allows them to watch the chefs in action as they prepare foods that are as impressive to look at as they are to eat. Orchard brings the freshest foods from local farmers and ranchers, then transforms these ingredients to create the best in modern cuisine.
Orchard: The local living room with flawless food and drink. Orchard is great design paired with delicious, inventive food and drinks. We want you to feel the passion we have for food, for sustainability, for creating with intention. Let us welcome you to our home, take your coat, find you a seat, and get you a drink. Our lounge is intimate and relaxed, intended for luxuriating over a delicious glass of wine or crafted cocktail. The dining room is cozy with high back booths and hand hewn tables. The chef is in the kitchen – you’re welcome to gather at the chef’s counter and watch the deliciousness unfold. The space and vibe at Orchard change throughout the day making it ideal for an array of dining experiences. Located in the center of Downtown Cle Elum, Orchard is the perfect place for a unique dining experience. As evening approaches take a seat on the comfortable couches in our lounge, grab a hand-crafted cocktail and a sharable plate to create a unique happy hour with friends and family. Dinner offers the option of the Chef’s tasting menu paired with local wines or choosing from our ala carte menu to create your own culinary adventure.
Orchard is a call toward home, and our restaurant name pays homage to the owner’s roots. Greg grew up on an orchard in the Wenatchee Valley where he spent his days with family growing, harvesting, and selling fruits and vegetables. His family pickled, preserved, and canned foods to be used in the off season – a practice still in use in our restaurant.
The building has a history all its own. Operated first as Jack’s Pool Hall then as the Longhorn Pub, it was the place to come together, dance and celebrate and we aim to carry that tradition forward. We’ve taken great care to maintain as many of the building’s historical elements as possible, using wood and brick reclaimed during renovation on the walls and restoring the original tin ceiling. Take a look around at the historical photos, fruit boxes, lighting, and antique artifacts we’ve designed with. We hope they’ll move your memory toward the place you grew up, a call toward home.

“As my husband and I walked into the restaurant, we noticed the rustic, modern feels by its texture, light fixtures, down to their water pitchers. The fireplace is cozy and inviting the chefs counter is a great place to watch the action going down in the kitchen and there’s also some nice tables if you want a cute date night. The server seated us immediately and the service was very inviting, we felt like everyone was very attentive. Now the food! It’s the best part, chef Steve created a great menu and we tasted everything except two dishes. I don’t have a favorite dish because all of them were so good in their own way. I’m happy that Cle Elum has the Orchard in town now, it gives a nice feel to the town and a great addition. Great job Greg! Can’t wait to be back!!”

“We drive to Seattle twice a week from Ellensburg and have eaten everything Seattle has to offer regardless of price. Orchard is by far the best thing I have had to eat in the last 2 years. Lamb baked in hay, organic tequila martini, Cle Elum is lucky to have this place!!!!”

“Came in just for a regular date night, and wanted to try something new! Absolutely amazing! The staff, presentation, food, and drinks were phenomenal! I loved that each dish was carefully made and took a little extra time between each course letting the last settle. It was fun, unique, and tasty. We will definitely be back! Highly suggest!”

“This hidden gem just became my favorite new restaurant. My friends brought me here for dinner and it’s a wonderful experience. The staff and owner are so friendly and the chef is AMAZING! Don’t come here for a quick 30 minute meal, this wonderful place is more of an experience. Fresh food and a constantly changing menu. It’s a great way to spend the evening with friends and family. So refreshing to go somewhere unique!”

“Simply: Amazing. Menu, Beverages, Staff, and everything in between. The staff went above and beyond expectations. The menu, was indescribably wonderful. I’m so happy this location opened between my current home of Seattle, and home town of Yakima, for a stopping point for a great experience.”

“Stopped in for dinner last night and wow!! The Orchard is truly a find and the place for upscale dining at a reasonable price in Kittitas County and has become my new personal favorite in WA. Greg and the staff are great, Steve’s food, flavors and menu’s (that right they change regularly) are amazing and the ambiance is perfect for a cute little mountain town like Cle Elum and is very warm, inviting and comfortable. If you’re a foodie, you’ll love Orchard. Great work all, we’ll see you again soon.”
